You’ll find just 4 long, wide tracks of psychedelic indi rock on this wonderful album by guitarist/singer Shutaro Noguchi. The singing is fantastic and properly high in the mix while the guitar is raw destructive rock power. From Japan and now residing in Kentucky, Noguchi sounds a lot like some of our favorite J-psych classics with much more composed songwriting and considerably better vocals. The excellent Feeding Tube Records had the good sense to put this one out despite his fairly unknown status even relative to their underground focused roster. I think it’s a future classic and Noguchi has since continued to refine a singular sound. Albums like this can sometimes miss their audience by blending the proggy and experimental too successfully with the beautiful and accessible. However I think it’s a perfect blend of indi and interesting that makes Love Super Terranean genuinely thrilling while always being plainly beautiful.
