An immense and intensive debut by this thrilling Brazilian band. Avant-prog, metal, and heavy spacious psych intersect to weave a dark conceptual tale of man seeking spiritual salvation from our collective crimes against the earth. Certainly classic zeuhl and progressive metal influences are touched up on but the album as a whole is distinctly contemporary, jazzy and Brazilian.
This first record also features Torstein Lufthus of blog favorites Elephant9 (Norway) on all drums, and a selection of absurdly talented session players on keys and sax. This album should appeal to a wide range of uptempo heavy music fans or anyone who is interested in exploring something a little harder and shreddier than the psych they’re used to. It gets far enough out there to be very interesting and psychedelic but even the music’s most freeform moments are held together and propelled forward by the unstoppable energy of the band.
