What can I say, the people love Dark Star by The Grateful Dead. This recent live rendition has been the talk of the town. All star band The Heavy Lidders (including Jeffrey Alexander and blog favorites Elkhorn,) made even more heavy with three members of Sunburned Hands of The Man sitting in, surprised lucky attendees with a set that was simply Dark Star. 45 glorious minutes of the Deads most spacious jam.

It’s a good reminder that The Heavy Lidders might be the catchiest project that any of these folks are involved in, but they’re still here to send faces to space with the deepest possible jams. I hope it’s a taste of what’s to come this September when The Heavy Lidders and Sunburned reunite for a stacked two day release celebration of the Lidder’s upcoming LP.

Shout out to NYC Taper for capturing the moment, find it on their blog and on The Internet Archive (linked below) and the fine virtual publication Raven Sings The Blues for hosting the party. Don’t miss this one folks, it’s a great addition to our archive and yours.
