What is this music? Is it jazz? There’s a saxophone player. prog rock? What is prog rock? I read the Wikipedia article. It cited Yes and Genesis.

This band does not sound like Yes or Genesis, except that there are clearly guitar parts and clearly drums, and they are played by people who sound like they enjoy doing so.

This music makes me wonder whether the rhythm section is simply whatever repetitive line is moving the slowest. It’s not quite that there are melodies, harmonies, so much as lines that are picked up and put down and crossed over other lines played by other instrumentalists. And then those other lines take precedence somehow, and the first one is gone before you know where it went. And on in this way.

I saw them live in Seattle on this albums tour. I was transfixed. Yet I have not yet found a perfect circumstance for listening at home. Perhaps it is coming.

Recommended for those who like BASIC, glockenspiel but not too much.
