The multi instrumentalist (also of blog favorite space/kraut rockers Centre El Muusa) has been on a hot streak through the 20s, and this is another genius jazz/library record. In Focus is perhaps my favorite since the 2020 record by the enabled dubbed Misha Paniflov Sound Combo, and it features pretty much the same lineup. I think he’s one of the most consistent artists in jazz/psych right now and any release of his is worthy of your time. So give my preferences little weight, and his whole discography your attention.
Rauno Vaher (drums) is perhaps the stand out player on this. Although every time the vocals join it’s a real breathtaking moment even in their subtlety. The rhythm section is just so tight, Misha being the bassist among many other things and displaying so many layers of chemistry with the percussion across every instrument and track.
Don’t miss this moody, trippy jazz spectacular. It’s got a nice range and it’s a perfect record to spend some time with this fall, equally enjoyable with your full attention or as a fantastic soundtrack.
