Most Velvet Underground bootlegs are partial, unlistenable, lo-fi audience recordings. This record is only partially partial, totally listenable and acceptably lo-fi audience recording. I am not recommending this for purely historical purposes rather it’s a genuinely nice listen. This was the final set of several in a very, very small bar in Philadelphia in early January 1970. Very early- the 60s had just ended.

Sadly only this set was recorded but it circulated well even at the time. The band was playing great and the setlist is choice. Especially if you haven’t heard an early version of Sweet Jane before or are imagine l unfamiliar with Sterling Morrison’s live chops. It’s a well played and complete 30 minutes of prime Velvet Underground where you can actually hear everyone play, even if its still bootleg quality at the end of the day.
