This is a wonderful and often ambient record with an occasionally chamber music vibe, contrasted against bold drum programming and commanding vocals. This Spanish trio consisted of (now well-known) ambient producer/guitarist Suso Saiz and percussionist Pedro Estevan, later joined by Estevans then partner María Villa performing wordless, formless vocals. Orquesta De Las Nubes is a live ensemble and they were apparently pretty concert focused. It’s definitely engaging and not particularly minimal. The songs are structured and rich with notes. They have synth moments that recall scores or classic electronica, and moments of live instrumentation that recall modern composition. I’m specifically reminded of older video game scores, groups like Geinoh Yamashirogumi and albums like Hosonos Omni Sight Seeing. The group here is much smaller than any of those and I think The Order Of Change is especially approachable due to the more intimate ensemble sound.
