I’ve returned to this album often since its release, and not just due to its easy-going nature. This California quartet makes truly great tunes. The twin guitars and vocal harmonies of the two front men are soulful and exceptional. The songwriting is timeless- though it certainly recalls the most well loved decades of California rock/folk. However theres no nostalgia here, just a genuine attempt at an all time great folk/rock/country/psych record. The band is unbelievably tight and the incredible live show will appease even the most critical fans of both jam/psych music and Americana. Simply put: Mapache is the real deal. Great songs that are played, sung and recorded impeccably. Do not miss this record and be sure to support them on tour.
