After a decade as a band that’s been mostly spent backing the legendary Pat Thomas, elder statesman of Ghanaian high life music, Kwashibu Area Band steps out with this amazing “solo” debut. The classic high life sound is there but there’s a maturity in the afro-jazz influences that immediately elevates it and the impeccable recording captures its nuances perfectly. There’s a pronounced influence from dub and reggae in both production techniques and in the breezy, romantic atmosphere. In my opinion it’s an instant classic that fans of any instrumental music will love.
