This is one of the most interesting modern Brazilian records I’ve heard in a while and it’s an easy contender for favorite of the year. Ricardo is perhaps best known for his decade of touring with Brazilian legends Caetano Veloso, although this is far from his first solo venture.

Thick grooves typical of artsy MPB are supplemented with even thicker drones. The surprises don’t end there, with moments of heavier rock and well placed electronic flourishes. There’s a wide range of sounds that each make an impact in their short tenure. The album is an efficient and effective pop masterpiece. While I wish each song were 6 minutes long, it’s really that I could listen to any of them forever.
