A high energy set from the more or less current lineup, recorded live at the 17th Acid Mothers Temple Festival in 2018. CD and digital versions have 4 tracks, the popular vinyl release (also widely shared digitally) has only the 2 longest- Blue Velvet Blues, and the closing Pink Lady Lemonade (You’re The Dancin Queen.)

The album has great recording quality and a mix that’s worthy of an exceptional set. The first half features two poweful vocal tunes that pull memorable performances from Jyonson. Then a blistering and distorted 8 minute OM Riff From The Melting Paradiaeo UFO that I truly wish could’ve been squeezed on the vinyl.

That said, the 18 minute closer is worth a whole side of wax. Their singature song is delivered as demanded, with a real psychedelic fury. Pink Lady Lemonade (You’re The Dancin’ Queen) is one of the best arrangments/improvisations PLL has ever been treated too. Drummer Nani takes the opening 5 min with an amazing, melodic cosmic disco rhythm solo (featuring a nice bouncing bass line from the only member since resigned, Wolf.) It’s an impressive solo with a great stereo mix that explores a lot in just 5 minutes and sets the tone perfectly for the rest of then psychedelic journey. It’s an uplifting and upbeat live perfomance of the classic song that delivers on its promise of huge sound, but doesn’t shred your ears.

This is some of the most played Acid Mothers Temple around my house and among my go to live records for testing speakers. It was also the first release by Max Hazard, AMTs (as in Makoto and Hiroshi) label for in house vinyl releases, which we will hopefully see more of soon.

An essential album for extreme live psych lovers looking for something contemporary and professionally recorded.
