A two track indi behemoth from a decade ago that most certainly flew under your radar. Fortunately it got a great reissue in 2014 via Debacle Records, with a new Scott Colburn remaster and killer new art (pictured.)
The percussion working overtime reminds me of hard hitting 70s afrobeat. The ensemble is typically 1 sax with 4 drummers and it’s that trance inducing pan-african rhythmic inclination that sets the record apart. I wouldn’t say it’s fully a spiritual jazz album in the modern sense, but it’s sonically similar and has serious ritualistic energy.
